Injury to Self
This self-portrait is an exploration of the emotional turmoil that was caused by an injury to the face. The physical injury of losing a tooth didn't hurt as much as the subsequent injury to self-image. As the tears rolled down, solely after looking in the mirror, it brought forth an important question, 'do we care more about how it looks than how it feels'? Worrying about not looking the same again, it highlighted our attachment to our face, which we often don't realise.
